Damani, Jhunjhunwala, Porinju lapping up these stocks; should you look at them?
Retail investors constantly keep looking for stocks that have the
potential to deliver multi-bagger returns. But they show a tendency to stay
clear of stocks that have under per formed in a rallying market.
Ace
investors with strong conviction and deep pockets make such decisions with some
bit of ease, even if such a stock happened to be that of a troubled company.
led Derive Investments' move to buy half-a-per cent stake, or 26.59
lakh.
Damani, an avid stock
picker who also owns the D-Mart chain of hypermarket stores, bought shares of
Fortis Healthcare at a time when lenders to the company’s promoter entity were
busy offloading shares pledged with them. They took permission from the Supreme
Counter to go ahead with the offloading of shares.
Porinju Veliyath, another
ace investor also known as smallcap czar, also bought shares of the company
last week, media reports suggested.
This can confuse investors
over whether they too should make an investment in the troubled company, whose
shares have turned cheaper by 25 per cent in last one year or so.
