These 100 stocks may crack any time now-Star India Market Research
As the domestic
equity market slipped for the fourth straight session on Monday, momentum
indicator Moving Average Convergence Divergence, or MACD, signalled downward
crossovers for 100 stocks on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
The NSE Nifty
index closed the session 99 points, or 0.95 per cent, down at 10,358, while the
BSE Sensex settled 300 points, or 0.88 per cent, down at 33,746.
Among the counters
that witnessed bearish crossovers in Monday’s session were HindalcoBSE -0.78 %,
NMDCBSE 1.10 %, Power Finance, Tata Power, Dish TV, BPL Ltd, National Aluminium
and VedantaBSE 1.46 %.
Some of these
counters have also been witnessing strong trading volumes in recent time, which
adds further credibility to the emerging trend.
Other stocks that
saw bearish crossovers include TRF, BLS International, Maithan Alloys, 20
Microns, Anant Raj and Simplex Infra.
MACD is a
trend-following momentum indicator and is the difference between the 26-day and
12-day exponential moving averages. A nine-day exponential moving average,
called the ‘signal’ line, is plotted on top of the MACD to reflect ‘buy’ or
‘sell’ opportunities.
When the MACD
slips below the signal line, it gives a bearish signal, indicating that the
price of the security may experience a downward movement, and vice-versa.
